Abstract:
This investigation will have students analyze and compare data obtained from archival sunspot and coronal mass ejection (CME) databases to determine if there is a correlation between the occurrence of these two events.

Outcome:

Students will compare and then graph data from two databases to determine if a correlation exists between two events.

Suggested Grade Level & Duration:
Grades 5-8; 1 - 2 fifty-minute periods.

Materials:
Graph paper
Solar Sunspot activity database (one is provided)
CME activity database (one is provided)
