Watching Your Heat Budget: Analyzing Temperature Changes In the
Atmosphere

- This diagram shows the first three layers of the atmosphere. Temperature
measurements at the Earth's surface indicate a warming trend,
whereas satellite measurements show both warming and cooling -
depending on where you look.

-
- Abstract:
- The learner will investigate temperature changes in the troposphere
and stratosphere and relate the data they collect to the Earth
radiation budget. These findings will be compared to the ground-truthing
measurements of surface air temperatures gathered by students
in the GLOBE program.
-
- Outcome:
- Understand the Earth's radiation budget
- Use the internet to access and tropospheric and stratospheric
temperature data
- Interpret these temperature data and their conection to the Earth
balance
- Understand ground-truthing studies of students through the GLOBE
program
-
