Watching Your Heat Budget: Analyzing Temperature Changes In the Atmosphere

This diagram shows the first three layers of the atmosphere. Temperature measurements at the Earth's surface indicate a warming trend, whereas satellite measurements show both warming and cooling - depending on where you look.

Abstract:
The learner will investigate temperature changes in the troposphere and stratosphere and relate the data they collect to the Earth radiation budget. These findings will be compared to the ground-truthing measurements of surface air temperatures gathered by students in the GLOBE program.
