Sea Mammals

- Abstract:
- This investigation provides an opportunity to collect data from remote sources regarding the natural history of sea mammals and their migratory patterns. The activity allows the learner to use satellite images to predict the location of specific sea mammals in the Pacific Ocean based on abiotic factors that affect their life cycle.
-
- Outcome:
- Learners will:
- use satellite and surface data to predict migration patterns for two sea mammals
- use the Internet, research sources for background information
- gain a basic understanding of a marine food chain, and the effects of abiotic factors on the biotic world
- interpret various geographic map projections
